Why bathe gel advert was banned over racial stereotype
A TV advert for Sanex bathe gel has been banned for reinforcing an offensive racial stereotype, by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
ASA’s Chief Executive Officer,Guy Parker informed Sky News: "We thought that the contrast could be interpreted as suggesting that white skin was superior to black skin, reinforcing a harmful and long-standing racial stereotype."
