Sen. Smith: Shocked by Trump’s ‘callousness’ when requested about lowered flags for murdered lawmaker
Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN) reacts to President Trump’s assertion Monday that he would have "gladly" given the order to decrease flags to half-staff in June when Democratic Minnesota state lawmaker Melissa Hortman was assassinated, however that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz hadn’t requested him.
The president didn’t name the governor in June to supply condolences, saying he “could be nice and call, but why waste time?”
Teddy Tschann, a spokesperson for Walz, responded to Trump’s Monday remarks in an announcement: “Governor Walz wishes that President Trump would be a President for all Americans.” #CNN #News
