Children’s laureate Frank Cottrell-Boyce has stated "the last 15 or 16 years have been an assault on children".
Speaking to Trevor Phillips he added: "Children bore the brunt of austerity. But the pandemic, we made certain youngsters bore the brunt of that, they have been those who have been locked down.
"All these things, children have had a very bad time the last 14 or 15 years. It is within the gift of government to change that."
