Conservative Party convention 2025 | Tories focusing on cuts to repay debt, says shadow chancellor

Shadow Chancellor Sir Mel Stride, Shadow Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Secretary Victoria Atkins and Shadow Housing Secretary James Cleverly take centre stage on the annual Conservative Party Conference in Manchester.

Speaking to Sky News, Mel Stride says that lowering the cash spent on issues like welfare, the civil service and inexperienced subsidies would assist the Conservatives save £47bn to repay authorities debt and reduce company taxes.
