Sister Mary Joseph Awards have a good time compassion, collaboration, innovation

The inaugural Sister Mary Joseph Awards lately honored those that display Mayo’s Values — Respect, Integrity, Compassion, Healing, Teamwork, Innovation, Excellence and Stewardship — in all they do. 

The awards — launched by the Surgical Transformation and Anesthesia People and Culture workforce — are named in honor of Sister Mary Joseph Dempsey, the primary surgical assistant to Dr. William J. Mayo and a trailblazer in compassionate, team-based care. The awards have a good time the folks
who carry ahead her legacy of service, excellence and humanity.

The inaugural ceremony, held on October 30 on the Foundation House, was a deeply significant recognition of surgical groups.

•  Heart of Service Award: Nicole Garrett, a licensed surgical assistant in Surgical Services
•  Standard of Excellence Award: Katie Lucas Jostad, a doctor assistant in Cardiovascular Surgery
• Beacon of Belonging Award: Taylor Bublitz, a licensed sterile processing technician lead in Surgical Services
• Inspiring Leadership Award: Karissa Goodrich, a licensed nurse anesthetist supervisor in Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine
• Excellence in Collaborative Achievement Award: Surgical Pharmacy Team
• Excellence in Innovation and Impact Award: Dream Initiative Team
