Decades of abuse of 1000’s of younger males by workers at a detention centre in County Durham was "ignored and dismissed" by the jail service, police and Home Office, an investigation has discovered.
The prisons and probation ombudsman has revealed a report into how "horrific" bodily and sexual violence was allowed to proceed in opposition to 17 to 21 12 months olds on the Medomsley Detention Centre in Consett.
