Home Secretary swears within the Commons as she says she has been a sufferer of racial slurs

Shabana Mahmood outlined her reforms to the asylum system, saying that she is introducing them as a result of the "world is a more volatile and more mobile place".

During her speech within the Commons, Max Wilkinson of the Liberal Democrats accused the house secretary of utilizing language that "stokes division".

He stated he believes Shabana Mahmood’s language has been unhelpful. "Acknowledging the challenge facing our nation is one thing, but stoking division by using immoderate language is another."

But Mahmood responded by saying: "I wish I had the privilege of walking around this country and not seeing the division that the issue of migration and asylum system is creating across this country."

She then stated that "unfortunately" she is "regularly" known as a racial slur, which she repeats within the Commons.
