Myanmar’s junta says election will present path to peace – however opponents criticise ‘sham’ vote
Polls have opened in Myanmar for the nation’s first common election in 5 years.
Following a navy coup in February 2021, the military seized energy deposing the final democratically elected chief Aung San Suu Kyi. It triggered a civil warfare.
But opposition teams have warned any new election will not be honest.
