Former chief of the House of Commons Jacob Rees-Mogg has informed Sky News he was "surprised" when he realized of Robert Jenrick’s sacking.
Earlier, Kemi Badenoch confirmed Mr Jenrick was sacked from the shadow cupboard, had the whip eliminated and had his celebration membership suspended.
She stated: "I was presented with clear, irrefutable evidence that he was plotting in secret to defect in a way designed to be as damaging as possible to his shadow cabinet colleagues and the wider Conservative Party."
