Colonel Stuart Tootal, who commanded the primary UK unit despatched to Helmand Province in Afghanistan, has branded Donald Trump’s feedback as "complete rubbish".
President Trump induced outrage by saying Nato allies "stayed a little back, a little off the frontlines" in Afghanistan.
Responding to his feedback, Colonel Tootal mentioned: "Between 2006 and 2014 all troops of the alliance have been completely engaged significantly the British, the Americans and the Canadians and different such forces on the frontline they usually have been taking casualties.
"So to claim we were a little bit off it, is complete rubbish."
