Minister: Wormald not being made a scapegoat for Starmer’s failures

Water and floods minister Emma Hardy has instructed Sky News that the UK’s high civil servant, cupboard secretary Sir Chris Wormald, hasn’t been moved on due to Sir Keir Starmer’s personal failures.

Asked by Anna Jones whether or not Wormald had been pressured out as a scapegoat, Hardy mentioned Starmer is "keen to look at his team and make sure that we have the team we need to deliver on the priorities this year."

She added: "He’s absolutely dedicated to cutting the cost of living… so I think it’s right that he has a team that is able to drive that forward."
