Rubio calls for brand new management in Cuba after nationwide blackout
US President Donald Trump stated final week that Cuba is in “deep trouble” and that the United States might or might not be part of a “friendly takeover” of the nation. “They’re down to, as they say, fumes,” he stated.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed these feedback on Tuesday, saying Cuba wants new management. “So they’re in a lot of trouble, and the people in charge, they don’t know how to fix it, so they have to get new people in charge,” he stated on the Oval Office. Rubio had been requested if he supported easing a commerce embargo in opposition to Cuba, which he declined to particularly talk about. “Suffice it to say that the embargo is tied to political change on the island. The law – the embargo’s codified, but the bottom line is, their economy doesn’t work.”
