Robert Pape, professor of political science on the University of Chicago, believes the US is an "era of violent populism".
He informed Yalda Hakim: "What I have found is that you see political violence rising on both sides, you see assassination attempts rising against Democratic leaders, think [Melissa] Hortman, she was one of two actually assassinated last summer, Charlie Kirk, multiple attempts against Donald Trump but also attempts against Nancy Pelosi."
