Number of confirmed hantavirus instances rises and extra could also be reported, says WHO

There at the moment are 5 confirmed instances of hantavirus in an outbreak related to the MV Hondius cruise ship, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has stated.

The WHO’s director-general, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, informed reporters that eight instances of the virus, which has been recognized because the Andes pressure, have been reported, with 5 confirmed instances and three suspected instances.

None of the remaining passengers or crew at present aboard the ship are symptomatic, however it’s attainable extra hantavirus instances could also be reported because the incubation interval might be as much as six weeks.
