Stephen Colbert revealed what he informed Byron Allen upon studying that The Late Show would get replaced on CBS by the comic’s speak collection Comics Unleashed. “When I found out, I wrote him the next morning,” Stephen informed The Hollywood Reporter in an interview revealed May 7. “I said, ‘Hey, congrats. I heard you got the time. Good for you. Wouldn’t it be lovely if you could drop Mr. Carson a note?’” Indeed, the 61-year-old was referencing Byron’s legacy because the youngest comic to ever carry out on The Tonight Show— now hosted by Jimmy Fallon— when it was hosted by the late Johnny Carson in 1979. “God bless him.
