The Rangers have appointed Angela Ruggiero, a Hall of Fame U.S. women’s hockey star, as an adviser for their hockey operations.

Angela Ruggiero, a Hockey Hall of Famer, has been appointed as a hockey operations adviser by the New York Rangers.

On Friday, the team made an announcement regarding the inclusion of Ruggiero, as well as various alterations in the front office.

Ruggiero, who is 43 years old, achieved success as a defenseman for the U.S. by earning four Olympic medals. She played a crucial role in securing a gold medal for her country at the 1998 Games in Nagano, which marked the introduction of women’s hockey in the Olympics. Additionally, she contributed to winning a silver medal in 2002 and 2010, as well as a bronze medal in 2006.

The Michigan native skated 15 years with the national team, putting up 58 points in 61 international games. Ruggiero was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015.

The Rangers have also elevated Ryane Clowe, a former NHL forward, to the position of co-senior adviser to Chris Drury, the president and general manager. Additionally, they have brought on Paul Mara, a retired defenseman, as an assistant for player development.

Andy Hosler has been appointed as the new head athletic trainer. After spending two years at Michigan State, Hosler is returning to the league to take over from Jim Ramsay, who had been in the position since the mid-1990s.

Hosler previously spent 14 years with the Nashville Predators, including 2013-21 as their head trainer.
