Home Secretary James Cleverly apologises for ‘inflicting damage’ over drink spiking joke

Home Secretary James Cleverly MP has instructed Sky News he regrets making what he referred to as "a joke" about drink spiking.

Meanwhile, he mentioned 112,000 functions for asylum had been processed within the final 12 months, together with "contemporary" instances and ones from the earlier backlog.

Around 24,000 of that quantity had been returned to their nation of origin, though plenty of these could have been turned down beforehand and never be a part of the 112,000 cohort, he added.
