HONG KONG—Tesla is conducting its largest ever recall in China that regulators stated was to repair points with its driver-assistance options that might enhance the chance of crashes, a transfer that follows related fixes within the U.S.

The software program repair, which will likely be delivered remotely, comes because the electric-vehicle maker faces fierce competitors on the earth’s largest auto market, the place it trails homegrown rival BYD.
