OTTAWA—Consumer costs in Canada rebounded within the last month of final 12 months, an indication the central financial institution’s struggle towards inflation isn’t but received even after the tempo cooled sharply for the 12 months.

The consumer-price index fell 0.3% in December from the earlier month and elevated 3.4% from a 12 months earlier, the federal government statistics company stated Tuesday. That compares with November’s 0.1% month-to-month achieve and represents a quickening after annual inflation held regular at 3.1% that month.
