‘People carry knives as a result of there is a worry issue’: What life is like for younger gang members

A teenage gang member has informed Sky News he carries a knife as a result of "when you’re around those people, you kind of have no choice but to do it".

He says he fears leaving the home and operating right into a rival gang unarmed.

It comes because the sentencing of two of Britain’s youngest ever knife killers will get underway after the homicide of a 19-year-old man in a random machete assault final yr.

Two 12-year-old boys had been convicted in June of killing Shawn Seesahai in Wolverhampton.

The West Midlands is the worst area within the UK for knife crime. Sky’s Becky Cotterill went there to make sense of the issue.
