Consumers will see the value of alcohol rise from 1 February when a hike in tax and duties comes into impact.
The alcohol tax itself will rise according to the Retail Price Index at 3.6%, however a brand new system to tax wines and spirits based mostly on power will probably be launched on the similar time.
This means the responsibility on a bottle of gin will rise by 32p, whereas wine at 14.5% ABV (alcohol by quantity) will improve by 54p.
