EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has pledged billions extra in funding for Ukraine as she arrived in Kyiv on the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
She mentioned Europe’s "first priority" is to strengthen Ukraine’s resistance and this consists of rushing up the supply of weapons and rising funding.
"An investment in Ukraine’s sovereignty is an investment in the prevention of future wars," Mrs von der Leyen added, as European nations put together to spice up defence spending as fears develop over the menace posed by Putin.
