Former NATO secretary common Anders Fogh Rasmussen tells Sky News that Europe wants to have the ability to stand on its "personal toes” as it might probably not rely on help from the US.
He says Europe ought to create a "coalition of the willing" and deploy European troops in Ukraine "backed by the US" as this might be a "strong deterrent" for Putin.
Mr Rasmussen goes on to say Donald Trump "wouldn’t like to be portrayed as a loser" and that "as a businessman, he should know that to get a good peace deal, you need to have some leverage". This leverage being to “strengthen the hand of the Ukrainians”.
