Israel was ‘badly suggested’ on Labour MPs’ deportation, Emily Thornberry says

A heated political controversy has erupted after two Labour MPs have been denied entry to Israel and deported, accused of trying to "spread anti-Israel hatred."

In an interview with Sky News, Emily Thornberry, chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, criticised Israel for being "badly advised" in its dealing with of the Labour MPs.

She acknowledged, "instead of alienating them, I really think that Israel should try to engage them rather than humiliate them in this fashion."

Thornberry additionally emphasised, "It’s such bad news, Israel is meant to be an ally, and you ought to be able to tell your friends the truth."
