Recording non-crime hate incidents ‘dangers infringing free speech,’ says shadow house secretary

The shadow house secretary has informed Sky News that he believes the police are "wasting colossal amounts of time" investigating non-crime hate incidents.

Speaking to Sky’s Wilfred Frost on the Breakfast present, Chris Philp MP additionally claimed that recording such incidents "risks infringing free speech", including: "They should not be policing Twitter, they’re not the thought police."

Mr Philp confirmed that the Tories will probably be proposing an modification to the federal government’s Crime and Policing Bill which might ban police from recording non-crime hate incidents, besides in very restricted circumstances.
