A cancer previvor shares her harrowing fight with the BRCA1 genetic mutation

Haley was only 20 years old when she found out she had the BRCA1 genetic mutation. It motivated her to take control of her future based upon her family history with cancer.

When she was just nine years old, her mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She says, "It motivated me to have genetic testing and be a previvor.” Haley had a hysterectomy, a mastectomy and breast reconstruction surgery at 27.

Now, she says, "I’m on the other side. When you see the statistics of getting cancer in your lifetime, it’s not betting odds. Now, I’m living my purpose.” Watch Haley’s story and see how the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center helped her thrive.
