The mom of an 18-month-old boy and her former accomplice have been given life sentences for his homicide.
Alfie Phillips was overwhelmed and smothered, struggling 70 accidents to his physique, together with a "myriad of bruises" and damaged ribs, legs and arms, in what prosecutors described as an evening of "violent discipline".
