Amanpour on why Palestinian filmmaker needs to be ‘protected’
Colleagues and eyewitnesses say Oscar-winning Palestinian co-director of “No Other Land” Hamdan Ballal was assaulted by Israeli settlers within the occupied West Bank and brought away by Israeli troopers. The Israeli navy mentioned it had arrived on the scene of a “violent confrontation” between Palestinians and Israelis who had been throwing rocks at one another, releasing Ballal a day later. CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, who interviewed Basel Adra and Yuval Abraham, the movie’s co-directors, explains why artists like them are the individuals “we should be celebrating.”
