The Labour Party’s ruling nationwide govt committee (NEC) has blocked Andy Burnham from working within the Gorton and Denton by-election.
Sky News understands that of the 10-person panel, the vote in opposition to Burnham was eight to at least one.
The one in assist was get together deputy chief Lucy Powell, and NEC chair and cupboard minister Shabana Mahmood abstained.
