Business secretary rows again on declare he wouldn’t ‘deliver a Chinese firm into metal sector’
Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds say his earlier criticism of Chinese involvement within the metal sector was targeted on one firm – not Beijing.
Mr Reynolds advised Trevor Phillips on Sunday he wouldn’t "personally bring a Chinese company into our steel sector" once more.
However, chatting with Sky News at present, he mentioned he was "really keen to stress the action we’ve taken here was to step in because it was one specific company that I thought wasn’t acting in the UK’s national interest".
Earlier, the trade minister Sarah Jones advised Sky News the federal government couldn’t rule out China’s continued involvement in British Steel.
The authorities took management of the Scunthorpe plant on the weekend after the Chinese agency Jingye mentioned the operation was now not economically viable.
