The Chumash tribe have been combating industrialization alongside the California coast, working to preserve the marine ecosystem that has been cared for for generations. In partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Chumash tribe is now months away from doubtlessly being the primary Indigenous group have its personal marine sanctuary.
