Cilia Flores was probably the most highly effective figures in Venezuela. She and Nicolas Maduro met by way of their shut connection to Hugo Chavez and as soon as Maduro succeeded him as president, she helped him keep his greater than a decade-long grip on energy.
Flores has been accused of corruption, nepotism, and hyperlinks to organised crime and has been sanctioned by the US and Canada.
Niall is joined by Venezuelan-American journalist Jose Enrique Arrioja, who’s the managing editor of Americas Quarterly and has coated politics in Latin America for over 20 years. They talk about why Flores was such a central determine to the Maduro regime.
