Civil service headcount ‘will go down’ as authorities transitions to digital, minister says
Science and Technology Secretary Peter Kyle has informed Sky News that he is "almost certain" that the civil service headcount will go down as the federal government strikes to elevated use of AI.
He says a report from his division reveals "about half of all transactions carried out by the government are analogue", and that "this is not the way we should be running a country". He suggests there could possibly be "up to £45 billion in savings" for the federal government in the event that they had been to start out utilizing AI.
