CNN reporters press officers on timeline of their response to Texas floods
Four days after flash floods in central Texas killed greater than 100 individuals, Kerr County officers repeatedly appeared to dodge and deflect questions from reporters Tuesday about after they knew the floods would pose a lethal menace, and refused to decide to a timeline of their official response. Despite the National Weather Service’s first public warning alert at 1:14 a.m. on July 4, Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha instructed reporters he was not made conscious of the flash floods till “between 4 and 5” that morning. “We understand you have many questions. We understand that. But right now, this team up here is focused on bringing people home,” Lt. Colonel Ben Baker of the Texas Game Wardens mentioned. “That’s our focus.” #CNN #News
