Coastal Carolina’s Cliff Ellis retires with 831 Division I victories, most amongst energetic coaches

CONWAY, S.C. — Coastal Carolina basketball coach Cliff Ellis, who leads all energetic Division I coaches with 831 victories, is retiring, he introduced Wednesday.

Coastal Carolina mentioned Ellis coached his last sport Monday night time, a 110-46 victory towards St Andrews. It mentioned affiliate head coach Benny Moss will tackle the position of interim coach and that Ellis will stay with the college engaged on particular tasks as he completes his contract.

Ellis mentioned in a launch from the college that he deliberate to retire on the finish of the season, “but in fairness to my players and my coaching staff, I wanted all of them, but especially the staff, to have a chance to show what they are made of.”
