Commercial ship with a fitted sail is trialled within the UK to cut back carbon emissions

A retractable, inflexible sail is being piloted for the primary time in a bid to cut back gasoline consumption and greenhouse gasoline emissions in industrial delivery.

Smart Green Shipping’s FastRig system can be trialled with the Nuclear Transport Solutions vessel, "The Pacific Grebe" on a visit from Barrow to Southampton.

The collaboration is a part of a wider focus to cut back emissions from the maritime sector, which accounts for round 3% of worldwide CO2 emissions.
