Delicious Produce & Home Cooking in Senegal | Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern | Travel Channel

Andrew is in Senegal, guided by native chef Mame Hughes via the streets of Dakar to sisters Nafy Diémé and Ndéye Fatou Faye at Chez Amy. They snack on fataya, a Lebanese empanada-like snack crammed with meat and greens; nem, crispy, fried spring rolls from Vietnam; and nem-filled fataya! Continuing their meals crawl, Andrew and Mame go to Castor Market, a one-stop-shop boasting blocks of distributors promoting all types of regional specialties. They style Baobab fruit from one of many oldest tree species on earth, and yeet, a big, brain-like sea snail with a plastic texture. Later, Andrew is invited to Mame’s mom’s dwelling for a conventional lunch ready by Mame’s daughter. Mafe stew, thieboudieune, and mbakhalou saloum make for a scrumptious meal.
