DOJ ends police reform offers, halts division probes

Nearly 5 years after George Floyd’s homicide, the Trump administration is transferring to dismiss federal oversight agreements in Louisville and Minneapolis reached following the deadly capturing of Breonna Taylor and police killing of Floyd, and dropping investigations into a number of main US police departments.

The transfer, introduced by the top of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, displays the administration’s opposition to agreements that require reforms of police departments the place the DOJ discovered a sample of misconduct.
