A bunch of charity rowers who had been mistaken for migrants by a former Reform UK MP say they’ve taken £20,000 in donations in simply 24 hours.
The group hit the headlines after Rupert Lowe posted on X that he had noticed a dinghy of migrants off the coast of Great Yarmouth.
But the "dinghy" was really an ocean rowing boat crewed by ROW4MND, a crew of 4 trying to row from Land’s End to John O’Groats for motor neurone illness analysis.
"In 30 minutes, we were wondering why there were so many people watching us from the beach," rower Matthew Parker advised Sky News.
"It was just a bit odd, people running along the coastline following us. Took about 30 mins to work out what was going on."
Mr Lowe, the impartial MP for Great Yarmouth, has accepted his mistake and donated £1,000 to the charity.
