Dr. Matthew Binnicker – What you must find out about HMPV

The World Health Organization is reporting a surge in instances of human metapneumovirus, or HMPV, within the Northern Hemisphere, particularly in China. But Dr. Matthew Binnicker, director of the Clinical Virology Laboratory at Mayo Clinic, says folks should not be involved.

"In the late winter, early spring, it can account for 5% to 10% of all the respiratory infections that we diagnose in the United States. So it’s definitely out there," says Dr. Binnicker.
