Fire service warns of wildfire risk as UK heatwave peaks

The fire service is on high alert as increasingly hot, dry weather creates the perfect conditions for wildfires in the UK.

Members of the public are being warned to be vigilant about the risk of fires over the weekend as the latest heatwave peaks, with temperatures expected to hit the mid-30s in some areas.

Speaking to Sky’s Greg Milam, Dave Walton of the West Yorkshire Fire Service said this summer has been "radically different" to previous years – and stricter precautions will be needed if heatwaves become a more regular occurrence.
