Food banks see spike as federal staff go unpaid, SNAP funding in limbo

In a memo obtained by CNN, the Department of Agriculture says it has a $6 billion contingency fund, however it won’t be used to cowl meals stamps. If the federal government shutdown continues, roughly 42 million Americans won’t get meals help beginning November 1.
