The state funeral of former US president Jimmy Carter begins and can final for six days.
The Carter Center introduced its founder, who was the oldest residing former US president, died peacefully at his dwelling in Plains, the city the place he was born in Georgia, on Sunday 29 December. He was 100 years previous.
The proceedings will start at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus and a motorcade will journey by downtown Plains in the direction of his childhood dwelling in Archery.
Carter will lie in repose in Atlanta for the general public to pay respects from Saturday night till early on Monday morning.
Carter’s stays will journey subsequent to Washington, the place he’ll lie in state within the Capitol Rotunda till his funeral on Thursday 9 January on the Washington National Cathedral.
