France on brink of financial and political disaster as PM seems to be set to lose confidence vote

French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou is scrambling to avoid wasting his authorities and his job forward of a vote of confidence on Monday.

Mr Bayrou, has proposed a drastic finances, making round £40bn in financial savings, together with slicing two of the nation’s annual public holidays.

This has been met by appreciable opposition from the French public, though Mr Bayrou and economists in Europe have warned that the EU’s second-largest economic system faces a Greek-style debt disaster if it does not act urgently.
