GOP Lawmaker Makes ‘Embarrassing’ Admission About The Republican Party
Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) slammed his personal get together on Thursday, bemoaning its lack of accomplishments in 2023.
“In my opinion, we have nothing to go out there and campaign on, Chris. It’s embarrassing,” Biggs instructed Newsmax host Chris Salcedo.
“The Republican party and the Congress of the Majority has zero accomplishments,” Salcedo agreed.
Biggs made the comment after he was requested in regards to the House Republican majority’s “complete failures” to go 12 annual spending payments on time. “How many of those 12 bills have been completed?” Salcedo requested.
“None. None have been completed,” Biggs replied. “There’ve been a few of them. Seven I think have been sent to the Senate from the House. The Senate has not taken up a single one of those bills.”
The alternate got here on the finish of a phase during which the 2 males railed towards the Biden administration, congressional Democrats and their spending agenda and insurance policies on border safety and immigration.
Biggs was considered one of eight Republicans who voted to oust Kevin McCarthy from his House speakership in October, throwing the deeply divided caucus into disarray for weeks as they scrambled to unite round a brand new chief.
Biggs isn’t the primary House Republican to counsel their get together has achieved little to nothing throughout its time within the majority. In a November speech, for instance, Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) stated “I want my Republican colleagues to give me one thing — one — that I can go campaign on and say we did.”
Time is as soon as once more operating out for Congress to avert a looming authorities shutdown if lawmakers don’t attain a deal to both go spending laws or approve a stop-gap measure to increase funding.
