Government set to abolish House of Lords hereditary friends
The prime minister says the precise to take a seat and vote within the House of Lords just by birthright is an "indefensible" precept and the federal government is at the moment legislating to finish hereditary friends for good.
Currently there are 88 males who’ve inherited their title from their mother and father sitting within the parliament, most of that are Conservatives.
Sky’s political correspondent Serena Barker-Singh spoke to the Earl of Devon, who has one of many oldest hereditary peerages. He says the function is a part of the nation’s "heritage and culture".
