The US defence secretary has stated: "Countries are well exceeding 2% and we think very close, almost near consensus, on a 5% commitment for NATO," following a gathering together with his NATO counterparts.
The US is looking on NATO allies to spend 5% of GDP on defence, properly above the present targets.
When requested particularly concerning the UK, he stated "we’re going to get there".
