Household bills could rise to £4,000 this winter

Consumers have been warned that household bills could rise to nearly £4,000 this winter when the energy price cap rises again in October.

It comes as Shell reports record profits of 9.5 billion pounds for a second quarter in a row. While the owner of British Gas, Centrica, has announced profits of 1.3 billion pounds, for the first half of the year.

The contrast between profits and prices has led to calls for another windfall tax on oil and gas companies.
