Forecasters count on the storm to peak on Thursday and say it may intensify into a significant hurricane.
On Wednesday, the outer bands of the hurricane, a robust Category 2 storm with 110 mph winds, have been bringing tropical storm circumstances to or very close to the North Carolina coast, the National Hurricane Centre stated.
