Iran claims placing US warship as Trump pledges ship passage

Iran’s navy has prevented the entry of “enemy destroyers” into the Strait of Hormuz, the state information company IRNA claimed Monday.

Citing a navy assertion, IRNA reported that “following a firm and rapid warning by its navy, the entry of what it described as U.S. and Israeli enemy destroyers into the Strait of Hormuz was prevented.”

CNN has reached out to US Central Command (CENTCOM) and the White House for a response to the declare.

CENTCOM has stated its forces will start restoring freedom of navigation for business delivery by way of the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.

“Our support for this defensive mission is essential to regional security and the global economy as we also maintain the naval blockade,” stated Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander.
